Barn owl magic. Rock Cairns are a traditional and important method of marking a path or guiding one's way. Some are intended to be visible from the sea or river currents.
I used rich pigments to paint this piece. The stones and moss were painted using pigment made from ground stone including zoisite and serpentine by Daniel Smith Watercolors. A fossil is visible.
